Where to eat in Algeciras if you like meat cooked over wood

We are an asador: the Spanish word for a grill house where meat is cooked over a wood fire. The grill is the centre of our kitchen and the rest of the menu is built around it — seafood dishes, Ibérico cured meats and tapas, stews of the day and homemade desserts. We are also a vermouth bar, pouring Vermut Zarro.

We opened in December 2022 in the centre of Algeciras. Luis Constenla, known to everyone as Chechu, runs the house and the grill.

Steak in Algeciras: Irish beef on the wood fire

Whether ours is the best steak in Algeciras is for you to judge. What we can tell you is what goes on the grill: Irish beef, cooked piece by piece over wood and taken off when it is ready, the way you ask for it — rare, medium or well done.

The flip side is that a steak grilled to order takes its time. We do not publish weights or ageing times online: ask at the table before you order and we will tell you about that day's piece.
